COMMUNITY cohesion was the real winner as teams from the various communities of Bolton battled it out in the inaugural One Bolton Cup on Sunday 23rd May.

Teams from the police, the Army, faith groups and The Bolton News took to the Reebok Stadium turf for the seven-a-side competition in which Blackburn Road FC ran out winners, beating a team called Totally Spannered in the final.

The tournament at the home of Bolton Wanderers was organised by the Bolton Council of Mosques in partnership with Bolton Council and One Bolton.
Inayat Omarji, of the council of mosques, said: “It was a scorching day and a very enjoyable day. It was the first time for many of the people inside the Reebok Stadium, let alone on the pitch.

“Bolton Wanderers have been a great supporter in the past and we will be looking to continue working with them.
“It was a very successful day in terms of the number of teams turning up and playing each other and we want to hold another event next year.”
