Trip to the Army Training Camp at Holcombe Moor

A group from Bolton’s, Chorley Old Road were put through their paces at the Army Training camp at Holcombe Moor. The boys chose to take part in a mud endurance run, team building activities and the Army’s Krypton Factor assault course to help develop their self esteem and confidence. "The Course was designed to be challenging and fun" explained Sgt Lee Robinson from the Army team. It is ability based and these young men had to prove an excellent level of fitness before they were allowed to take part. We offer courses to match all abilities and we a keen to work with all sports people and boxing, Rugby Soccer, Netball and Martial Arts clubs etc.

Inayat Omarji from the Bolton Council of Mosques who is supporting the young men in the area said "The Army Training camp offered a challenging but safe environment, with some healthy discussions around current issues and involvement of the Army's work. The day helped to create an honest and open dialogue with the Soldiers which helped to dispel some myths and commonly held assumptions. The guys had a great but challenging time and it was excellent to see them smiling and enjoying themselves."

“The Army conducts various outreach activities to develop and interact with young people across the region” Community Liaison Officer Lutha Magloire explained. “It is important that the community understands that soldiers are normal people from all communities and walks of life doing an extra-ordinary job.” Today we were asked to deliver an intensive action packed physically and mentally challenging day and I think we achieved the aim.

Everyone associates team work, physical and mental fitness with the Army. They are important aspects of what we do but we always seek build up our trainees progressively.
