The BCoM Youth Forum has been established for a while now and has executed some excellent projects. The group consists of individuals who have experience and contacts within the Youth, Sport and Community Development field as well as Ulema. Their primary aim is to tackle issues faced by young people by providing facilities, activities and events and opportunities to help realise their value and importance in society. RESIDENTIAL - Outdoor & Water Sport Activities
BCoM for the last two years have organised and supported different young people from different communities on residential activities. The residentials have been an essential part of engaging with young people in an environment where discussions have taken place around various topics- the aim to challenge, understand and educate.
Topics covered with the residentials undertaken have been : -
- Drugs and Substance misuse - Play and Drama
- Education - What the future holds, how to change?
- Role Models - Who they are - Locally and Nationally
- Understanding & Challenging Extremism
We have upon request from some local Maddrassahs supported volunteers to engage more with the young people of there own communities by offering and organising residentials. These have been invaluable for the local community volunteers to extend further the relationship between themselves and the young people.
