Ammara Khan, a volunteer at the Bolton Council of Mosques, was delighted to have achieved her hard earned youth achievement silver award. She is the first young person at the Bolton Council of Mosques to have completed and been successful in gaining the Youth Achievement Award which is a nationally recognised qualification. The Award involves a series of challenges which the young person has to develop, organise and manage, demonstrating all this by evidencing and producing a portfolio. Supported by the Bolton Council of Mosques, Ammara was able to gain certificates and organised events such as multi faith breaking of the fast, as well as mentoring, first aid and also stood up for election to be a Youth MP.
At a time when both young people and many community organisations get more bad press than good, Ammara's achievements are definitely something to be proud of. The Bolton Council of Mosques is currently working with a number of young people helping them through Platinum and Bronze Youth Achievement Awards. |
