Bolton Primary Care Trust Older People's Mental Health Needs Assessment Evaluation and Networking Event

Spring has been and gone, the results are in! Bolton PCT would like to invite you...

Bolton PCT recently undertook an older people's mental health needs assessment.

They wanted to hear the views of older people about their mental health and wellbeing needs and with the help of BCOM and other organisations, reached out to over 400 older people over the age of 55 from a wide range of backgrounds.

They have told us what is important to them, what affects their mental health, what makes them feel good and what they want to see improved.

The results are surprising and remarkable. People have been frank, honest and clear about their mental health and wellbeing needs in detail.

This information will be invaluable to anybody who lives or works with anyone over the age of 55. Mental health is everybody’s business and we are all responsible for protecting our own mental health and understanding the way in which our actions impact upon the mental health of others.

These results are especially relevant to anybody who’s work involves people over 55 and should be used to inform service developments, policies and projects that take mental health impact into consideration.

We will be presenting the findings of the needs assessment within the context of mental health and wellbeing for older people at an event on 22nd July at Bolton Technical Innovation Centre, Minerva Road, Bolton from 1pm – 4pm.

Those who filled in the questionnaires have said that services need to know more about what else is available so that they can promote opportunities and refer appropriately.

Because of this, the PCT will add value to this event by asking relevant services to give a ten minute presentation updating on service developments, referral criteria, contact details, future plans etc.

If you would like to take up this free opportunity to give a ten minute presentation to promote your service to a range of stakeholders and potential service users please contact Brenda Hill or Yvonne Cunningham via This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Spaces to present will be limited and will therefore be allocated on a first come first serve basis. This event will be promoted widely over the coming weeks.

Attendance at the event is open to the public, all are welcome to come along, share and observe. Light refreshments will be provided.
