Islam in the UK – getting to know Bolton's British converts.
Community Development

Despite the recent media frenzy over the wearing of the Islamic face-veil, and ongoing fears that the religion of Islam is a breeding ground for terrorists, this has not prevented many British people from converting to Islam and adapting it to their daily life. A recent convert to Islam is Tony Blair's sister-in-law, Lauren Booth. After having what she describes as a 'holy experience' during a visit to Iran, journalist and broadcaster Lauren Booth, Cherie Blair's sister, accepted Islam. She now wears a hijab whenever she leaves her home, prays five times a day and visits her local mosque.

With the growing number of people accepting Islam as their way of life in the Bolton area, a special 'Get to know you' event coinciding with the Islamic festival of Eid has been organised for Friday 19th November at 7.00pm in the Bolton Council of Mosques venue (address: 1 Vicarage Street, Daubhill, Bolton, BL3 5LE).

If you are a convert to Islam, or a person who is interested in knowing more about Islam, we welcome your participation.
