Community DevelopmentThrough Community Development and Leadership, BCOM seeks to empower individuals and groups by providing them with the skills and knowledge they need to effect change in their own communities. We believe community development is the process of developing active and sustainable communities based on social justice and mutual respect.

With a Community Development Officer in post now, BCOM offers support to community and voluntary groups in Bolton. The work includes capacity building, identifying group support needs and helping them to raise their profile.
BCOM can now advise and support you with set up of new groups or with existing groups to develop your management committee, business plans, identify funding and support you with writing bids along with offering you training opportunities where needed to develop you and your organisation.

Ramadhan Guidance for Serco Leisure Facility users in Bolton

A number of groups in Bolton use the local Community Leisure Centres managed by Serco Leisure. The relationships created by the Bolton Council of Mosques with Serco Leisure and the Council has allowed us to manage concerns that have been shared both ways by customers and Serco in relation to cancellation of bookings and use of Leisure facilities over the Ramadhan period.

Chaplaincy Course

The Bolton Council of Mosques in partnership with Bolton Christian Community Cohesion, University of Bolton and Bolton College is introducing a ground breaking, first of its kind Chaplaincy programme for members of the Bolton community.  It is aimed at individuals who plan to work as chaplains in a multi faith environment.
