Our Work

Representing all the 18 established mosques in Bolton with approximately 20,000 Muslims, BCoM is often seen as the gateway to the Muslim Community. It is an organisation that ensures that Muslims are represented at the highest levels, locally, regionally and indeed nationally. As members of the Local Strategic Partnership we are involved in contributing to the future of service provision in Bolton for all communities, established as well as new and emerging.

BCOM has a number of staff, voluntary forums and is involved in a number of projects. These include the provision of circumcision clinics, burial facilities, mentoring and counselling, raising funds for those in need and at times of crisis, drugs work, young peoples pilgrimage package, advocacy and advisory projects, first aid courses, a community newsletter, MRI Scanning facilities and indeed the list goes on.

We strive to undertake our work through the following forums which has an involvement from individuals from a cross section of the community, please do not hesitate to contact the lead for the forums or BCoM direct if you wish to join or discuss further. Football With The Girls' School

9th November - 14th December 2007, Bolton Muslims Girls School.

Female football coaches from The Bolton Council of Mosques are now taking part in a culturally sensitive football programme in partnership with Bolton Muslim Girls' School. The coaches qualified through the Sports Health and Inclusion Volunteers Scheme, were accredited in Level 1 Football Coaching by The F.A., are running a pilot scheme with 20 young girls at the school.

1st September 2007. Presentation Awards Evening.

publishedThe Presentation Awards Evening organised by The Bolton Council of Mosques was very successful with over 120 people participating. The all-female event was hosted by The Bolton Council of Mosques in recognition of the hard work that young girls have been undertaking with The Bolton Council of Mosques on a number of projects and activities over the past several months.

First Aid Training

18th December 2007. BcoM First Aid Training, New Madinah Mosque

The Bolton Council of Mosques recently facilitated an Emergency Life Support and Basic First Aid course that took place over the course of one day. The course was targeted at females from the Pakistani community in order to provide them with basic knowledge and skills that they may require when faced with first aid situations within their homes with children and family. The course was run by St Johns' Ambulance and took place at The New Madinah Mosque.
