Bolton Museum has launched an exhibition alongside the Bolton Council of Mosques. It features contributions from members of a female youth group and contains a photographic montage which shows life through the eyes of young Muslim women. Other generations will also be represented as the exhibition will also feature interviews with elders from the community. The history element comes with a brief history of the very first mosques in Bolton area and offers visitors the chance to learn more about Islam. The Bolton Council of Mosques is an organisation which represents approximately 20,000 Muslims and supports the 22 Mosques in Bolton, the people that use them and the people who want to learn more about them.
The exhibition has taken over a year to plan and aims to introduce mosques, and what happens inside them, to museum visitors. The exhibition is free and runs until the end of November and is available in English, Arabic, Gujarati and Urdu. |
