The teachings of Islam on life and death are clear. We are all mortals and death is a gateway to the hereafter. Islam teaches us the methods by which we deal with the passing of our fellow human beings and rules by which we have to conduct the appropriate practices of prayer, preparation and burial.
The Qur’an stresses the inevitability of death for all living things, emphasises the fleeting nature of this world, and underlines the need for Taqwa (God-consciousness.)
This short booklet is an attempt to provide the necessary information on the accessing, preparation and burial of a deceased Muslim in Bolton. It should go some way towards providing the peace of mind one needs at an especially stressful time in life.
Bereaved families are not always familiar with the legal requirements and Islamic preparation rites that are involved with the burial of a loved one in England.
Bolton Council of Mosques are currently producing a publication that will help create an awareness of the issues and develop the collective understanding of the things that are required of us. In addition, it is our hope that this will allow us to focus on our difficulties more clearly and to enable us to develop faster and better systems so that we can make the whole process that much easier for all of us.
The long term goal is to establish fully supported burial service for the Muslim Community that meets both religious and legal requirements.
