Bolton Market Place - Multi Faith Quiet Room
Interfaith Work

Market Place Bolton has recently opened a multi-faith Quiet Room for those of all faiths to take a moment whilst out shopping within the shopping centre following a number of requests for this facility.

The Market Place Multi-Faith Quiet Room comprises of a multi-faith prayer room and quiet room with facilities for use for who observe ritual washing before prayer.  Facilities also include a chair, hand basin, prayer mat, bibles and prayer timetables for the Muslim faith as well as a simple compass on the prayer room ceiling. Keys to enable access to the quiet room can be located at the Customer Service Desk adjacent to H Samuel on the ground floor at Market Place.

The multi-faith quiet room was opened by some of those most closely involved with the development of the project including Alan Scantlebury, Town Centre Chaplain and Inayat Omarji from the Bolton Council of Mosques who have both contributed to the fittings within the room.

Alan comments, “In recent years we have been greatly enriched by an increasing cultural and religious diversity. Our vision was therefore to develop the quiet room with the developers of the newly opened Market Place in order to provide more fitting facilities for all who wish to spend time in quiet, reflection, meditation or prayer."

Rod Neasham, Centre Manager said, "Market Place Bolton is looking to add value to all areas of life and it is important, in our increasingly diverse society, that we provide appropriate and suitable facilities for our visitors to worship or to simply contemplate in a quiet area. The introduction of this new multi-faith quiet room has been funded solely by the owners of Market Place, Warner Estate Holdings and I am delighted that we have been able to work so closely with all of the local faith groups on this project.
