| A Prayer at the Mosque by the Bishop of Manchester |
| Interfaith Work |
|
The Rt Revd Nigel McCulloch is one of the most experienced bishops in the Church of England. Having Interfaith issues close to Bishop Nigel's heart, a warm welcome was received in Bolton, in particular his visit to Zakariyya Mosque and the Bolton Council of Mosques. Having visited many of the local churches and groups, the Bishop took time out to visit the magnificent Zakariyya Mosque on Derby Street and was introduced to Imam Rashid, discussions led between the similarities of the Christian and the Muslim faith as a tour of the Mosque took place. The Bishop also viewed the Asr salah whilst it was performed (afternoon prayers) and then spent time meeting some of the older members of the community. A short prayer was offered by the Bishop, praying for the Imam, the Muslim community and the community as a whole. Next stop was to the Bolton Council of Mosques, meeting the different officers and having the opportunity to speak to some of the volunteers. The BCoM girls group working on a Building Bolton project in conjunction with Bolton Museums, shared their work and some of the photographs they were changing into art work.
