Vision: To improve the Physical and Psychological health and well-being of Muslims in Bolton.

The groups key aims and objectives are:

  • To identify key issues affecting the communities health needs.
  • To work with key stakeholders to facilitate, resolve or arbitrate in matters relating to health.
  • To act as a consultative body for agencies and the community.
  • To develop a strategy for the health of the Muslim community.
  • To collate vital data and statistics that will assist the delivery of the above aims and objectives.
  • To organise forums / sub groups and health events that facilitate the above.

BCoM / Bolton PCT Circumcision Service
Health Forum

The Bolton Council of Mosques (BCoM) in partnership with the Bolton Primary Care trust (PCT) has successfully run a circumcision clinic for over 10 years. Thousands of babies have benefited from the clinic which operates on a fortnightly basis at the Pikes Lane Health Centre on Deane Road.

Ramadan ‘Stay Healthy’ Health Pilot

During a busy period in the month of Ramadan, at Mosques in Great Lever, and Zakariya Mosque in Peace Street, more than a hundred men had access to the PCT Health Trainers, and local pharmacists who were on hand to offer health information, advice and health checks focusing on diabetes, and heart disease awareness.
